NETTUNO JAZZ – segnali dal forte  2024

The Hangar Cultural Association, under the artistic direction of Francesco Bruno, returns to the Nettuno Jazz.24 Segnali dal Forte Festival, now in its fourth year. From August 23rd to 25th, it will bring upcoming big names in jazz, dance, theater, poetry, and art exhibitions to the stage at Forte Sangallo. A common theme will run through the Festival, which this year is dedicated to Giacomo Matteotti, marking the centennial of his death. A painting and photography exhibition curated by Leonardo Leonardi and Silvana Maltese, “Giacomo Matteotti: Il coraggio di un uomo,” will be installed inside Forte Sangallo.

This year’s musical highlights include: the duo Javier Girotto & Vince Abbracciante on August 23rd; and Angelo Valori & Medit Voices – Mi ritorni in mente – Le Canzoni Di Battisti-Mogol on August 24th. The festival closes on August 25th with Francesco Bruno’s project with the emblematic title of Nuestra Senora Tierra. The languages of theater, poetry, dance, and painting intertwine with jazz music in a journey always rich in nuance and precious interweavings: “Designing a Festival,” explains Francesco Bruno, “allows me to express, through the gestures of the varied performances, a concept of art that has always animated my personal and artistic life. The arts have always given their best when they have had the curiosity to observe and meet each other in an expressive synesthesia that is always enriching.”

But let’s go on to describe all the other events that will enliven the Forte with the dense scent of creativity: starting with the Welcome in Verse by the poet Iago, who will welcome the public every day at the Drawbridge. This continues with the corner curated by Valeria Ballarati in the External Courtyard, “Listen to the Voice of the Flowers”: a tribute to Dr. Bach. Two exhibitions are scheduled: inside the Forte, as previously announced, “Giacomo Matteotti: The Courage of a Man” will be curated by Leonardo Leonardi and Silvana Maltese, who will also curate the second exhibition, “Women: Free in Art, Always Free.” This is an all-female painting exhibition featuring works and prints by women who have turned their art into a means of liberation. It will be enriched by a live painting performance by painters Mirella Celani, Monica Celestino, Monica Galli, and Roberta Ghelli. Visitors to both exhibitions will be guided by the youth of the Spiragli di Luce APS Association, a local organization that supports people with disabilities.

A Listening Corner will also be set up, featuring book and record illustrations in collaboration with Alfamusic, a historic Italian independent label with a vast jazz catalog, which will offer a listening guide to classic jazz tracks on vinyl alongside the featured artists.
Before the concerts, every evening from 8:00 PM on August 23rd, we will be offering “Liberamente Tango,” an Argentine Tango performance with Simona Crivellone, Director of the Fuoricentro Dance School in Nettuno.

Inspired by the exhibition of the same name, the Il Borgo di Nettuno Theater Company will present two theater performances titled “Donne: liberi nell’arte, liberi,” again with Arianna Siraco.

For the most refined palates, from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM every evening in the outdoor courtyard of Forte Sangallo, a wine tasting will be served by the prestigious La Divina Provvidenza winery of Nettuno, winner of Vinitaly 2024.
